What we’re about
NOTE:
With the impact of COVID-19 and social distancing, and the addition of me breaking my ankle on a hike early this year, putting me out of commission as an additional leader, and leading my traditional Deems Hill Tuesday Evening Hikes, our hikes and get togethers have not been as numerous as in the past. With this the Trail Period for joining this meetup has now been extended for 180 Days , and you can judge are we the right hiking group for you. So enjoy our adventures and I'll be back on the Trail very soon.........Capt'n Bob
This meetup is for all who love the great outdoors, lacing up those hiking boots, hitting the trails and climbing the summits, and at the end enjoying a nice cold craft beer from a local brewery that appreciates the flavors of great craft beers. So if you love to hike, and you love and appreciate the fine flavors of an Awesome Brew, then Hiking for Hops is the Meetup hiking group for you. In actuality, if you love to hike and experience the great outdoors, and the good times that follow, even if you don't drink this Meetup is for you. Hiking for Hops will offer at least a monthly Hike for Hops that will Hike one of the many trails our state has to offer, then after our adventure, visit one of the many local breweries, brew pubs, or bars that feature craft brewed beers. So, are you ready for some fun filled adventures, great beers, fun times, and friendships?....Then Hiker for Hops is the a group for you. So you ask; Why the membership fee? Well, we don't want everyone. We want members who truly want to experience the fun times and adventure the Hiking for Hops Meetup has to offer. We just don't want a collection of names or members who don't participate. Additionally this small group donation of $10.00/year will offset the cost of making this a Great Meetup by helping establish meeting locations, purchase group supplies for our gatherings and events, needed equipment such as walkie talkies, first aid kits, etc for our volunteer leaders, and to be on the active list to receive our group newsletter, notifications, and messages of upcoming hikes and events. It is not a prerequisite to attend our hikes. You are also welcome to bring a guest(s) along anytime. We have an Amazing group of Hikers and volunteer Trail Leaders, and we are always looking for additional trail leaders if you would like to get involved. We're a small group but a fun, serious group of hikers who appreciate what our beautiful state has to offer, but who also enjoy a good time off the trail as well.
Until I see you on the trail, keep Hiking for those Hops.
Bob....or as I'm known Capt'n Bob

SUNRISE FLOAT DOWN SALT RIVER
Looking for a cool and wet adventure? We invite you to spend a morning kayaking with us the Lower Salt River in the beautiful Tonto National Forest!
Kayaks, SUPS and tubes all welcome.
I have an extra tube available if you want to borrow.
Salt River is a recreational paradise that offers "chills and thrills" while floating on cool and refreshing mountain waters, enjoying a "floating picnic" and experiencing the natural wonders of the Salt River!
Spending a day paddling or tubing the Lower Salt River is easily one of the most popular summer activities in the Greater Phoenix area. You'll see families, couples and friends bringing along coolers filled with plenty of drinks and snacks, and everything else you need to enjoy the real-life lazy river. You'll notice groups, their tubes tied together so they don't get separated. As if the beautiful scenery surrounding the Lower Salt River wasn't enough, one of the most jaw-dropping sights found along any stretch of the river are the wild horses who call the river their home. The horses roam along the banks where many visitors kayak and tube, and can often be spotted along your route.
The best-known segment of the river (AKA the Lower Salt River) is located about 40 minutes from downtown Phoenix in Mesa, where visitors and locals go mainly for two reasons: kayaking/tubing and wild horses.
Because the Lower Salt River is located in the Tonto National Forest, you will need to purchase a recreational day pass to explore the area.Vehicles parked either at Water Users' Recreation Area or Phon D Sutton must have a Tonto ($8) Or America The Beautiful Pass.

H4H - 4X4 AdventuresIt is time to take this group to an adventure of a different kind!
PLEASE
READ, READ, READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW
BEFORE SIGNING UP !!!If you want to get to White Pocket you'll need either a high-clearance 4X4 – (NOT AWD – NO 2WDs), or a friend with a 4x4, or rent a jeep in Page.
If you share a rental, or ride with one of drivers, the cost should not be too bad - as little as:
$200.- plus gas / per person - for two days for four people and 400 miles included
OR:
$250.- plus gas / per person - for three days and 600 miles included.
That is less than a cost of guided tour for one day only.If you don't have one, 4X4 jeep rentals are available in Page.
The Paria Plateau is the central geographic feature of Vermillion Cliffs National Monument; a remote, sandy area 20 by 20 miles in size bordered by Buckskin Gulch and the Paria River to the north, the cliffs themselves to the east and south, and House Rock Valley to the west. Some parts are flat, others gently sloping, and the area is crossed only by rough tracks, requiring a 4WD vehicle due to long stretches of deep, soft sand. Dotted across this generally featureless region are numerous small outcrops of the underlying Navajo sandstone, eroded to form unusually varied shapes, generally colored white or red, but mixed with layers of many other shades.
I am looking for COMMITTED drivers with 4x4 high clearance vehicles (Must be a 4X4 – NOT AWD – NO 2WD), who are willing to take passengers, so as many people as possible can share the experience and cost, and enjoy this adventure.
When you sign up answer ALL of the following questions in the comment section below to be moved from wait-list to ”going”:
1 - Do you have a 4x4 vehicle or will you rent one?
2 - How many ADDITIONAL passengers are you willing to accommodate?
3 - Are you a passenger willing to share expenses with others?Get a preview of the area :
